The increased load on the power grid is driven by cloudy and rainy weather across a significant part of the country. This has substantially reduced the output of rooftop solar installations, prompting consumers to draw more electricity from the national grid.
On the previous day, August 31, the daily peak consumption was recorded during the evening hours. It exceeded the peak of the previous working day by 5.1% due to hot weather across most regions and the widespread use of air conditioning.
Grid operators recommend shifting the use of energy-intensive appliances to the period between 10:00 and 16:00, when utility-scale solar power plants operate at peak efficiency.
Outages Caused by Shelling and Adverse Weather
Following Russian missile and drone strikes, new power outages were registered this morning across Kyiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Odesa, and Kharkiv oblasts. Emergency repair crews are deployed to restore power wherever security conditions permit.
Additionally, severe weather in Sumy Oblast has left 188 settlements without electricity. Restoration works are ongoing.
