According to the Naftogas press-service, Vitrenko stated it during the meeting of the US Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission) on June, 7.
“So far, I would say that in the gas sector Ukraine is doing fine. Ukraine is showing its strength and its resilience. But we would need the help for the next heating season because Ukraine would need to import up to 6 billion cubic meters of gas at current market prices is about 8 billion dollars. It’s a big challenge for Ukraine at the moment,” he said.
Vitrenko added, at now the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, Naftogas’ management, and the US government are negotiating for providing a possibility of big volume of gas import.
“We are working now with the US government finding ways, more commercial ways, - export financing, guarantees, even considering such an option like using gas as a part of the Lend-Lease,” CEO of the state holding added.
