Air temperatures rise alongside grid load: Energy system status as of June 22

22.06.2026 10:17

Electricity consumption in Ukraine is showing an upward trend. The main driver behind the increased load on the energy system is rising temperatures across most regions, which has led to widespread use of air conditioners.

Specifically, today, June 22, as of 09:30, power consumption was already 2.2% higher than during the same period on the previous business day (Friday). Yesterday, June 21, the daily peak demand was recorded in the evening, matching the peak level of the previous Sunday, June 14.

Energy operators urge citizens to use electricity rationally and, where possible, shift the operation of energy-intensive appliances to daytime hours—specifically from 10:00 to 16:00. This is the period when industrial solar power plants operate at peak efficiency, helping to balance the grid.

Consequences of hostile shelling and power outages

The situation within the energy system remains dynamic and subject to change due to continuous Russian attacks on critical infrastructure. As of this morning, June 22, the most critical situation is in the Donetsk and Kherson regions, which see the highest volume of new power outages due to equipment damaged by the enemy.

Additionally, following overnight and morning strikes, network damage and power outages affecting consumers have been reported in the following regions:

  • Sumy;

  • Kharkiv;

  • Mykolaiv;

  • Chernihiv;

  • Zaporizhzhia.

In areas where security conditions permit, emergency repair crews have already begun recovery work. Specialists are doing everything possible to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.
