According to Buslavets, eight NPP power units are currently operating in the energy system in the territory controlled by Ukraine. One power unit is still undergoing maintenance, which is expected to finish this month.
As reported, citing the former minister, the delay in launching one NPP power unit after scheduled maintenance might have been one of the reasons for the sharp price jump in the Ukrainian spot electricity market this week.
Currently, "Energoatom" operates nine power units of the South Ukraine, Rivne, and Khmelnytskyi NPPs with a total capacity of 7880 MW, located in the territory controlled by Ukraine.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP, with six VVER-1000 power units and a total capacity of 6000 MW, has not been producing electricity since September 11 of the same year, following its occupation on March 3-4, 2022.
