Fuel sales at filling stations decreased by 6% in September

The total value of fuel sold (gasoline, diesel, LPG) at filling stations in September 2024 amounted to UAH 32.4 billion, which is 4.4% less than in August, and the volume of spills decreased by 4.7%, according to data from the State Tax Service of Ukraine analysed by NaftoRynok.

Retail sales have been declining for the second month in a row. Compared to the record highs of July, sales in September fell by 10.4%. Compared to September last year, the decrease is 6.5%. In total, in January-September 2024, sales reached almost six billion litres.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the largest decrease in spills in September was in the Donetsk region (-19.6%). It is followed by the Ivano-Frankivsk (-10.8%) and Odesa (-10.0%) regions. Only the Sumy region experienced an increase in spills (+0.4%).

The Donetsk region also experienced the largest year-on-year decline (-35.9%), followed by the Chernivtsi region (-15.8%) and Zakarpattia (-12.4%). An increase in September 2024 compared to September last year was recorded in only two regions – the city of Kyiv (+2.7%) and the Chernihiv region (+0.3%).

The number of valid fuel retail licenses also decreased to 6,754, which is 40 fewer than a month ago.
