"Our operator is ready, the only question is whether Ukraine will want or need to use it," P. Henning-Kloska reiterated.
According to her, Ukraine has several directions from which it can receive electricity.
Referring to Fico's anti-Ukrainian statements, the Polish Minister emphasised that this type of behaviour by the Slovak Prime Minister "is against Europe," which has been supporting Ukraine for many years.
On December 31, the transit contract for the transportation of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine's GTS expired. This event provoked a strong reaction from the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who on December 27 last year, after a trip to Moscow, threatened to take "retaliatory" actions against Ukraine's termination of Russian gas transit. In particular, such threats included stopping electricity exports to Ukraine and "significantly reducing" support for Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia.

"Poland will be able to increase sales of electricity to Ukraine provided that Ukraine expresses such a wish." This was stated by the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland Paulina Henning-Kloska on the public television TVP Info, commenting on the previous statements of the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico about the suspension of electricity supplies to Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
