Power System Update: Electricity Consumption Rises Due to Heatwave; Repairs Underway Following Attacks

Electricity consumption has increased across Ukraine. The primary driver behind the rising load on the power grid is the temperature surge in several regions, which has prompted citizens to use air conditioning more intensively.

According to energy officials, as of 09:30 today, June 19, electricity consumption was 3.1% higher than at the same time on the previous day. In contrast, yesterday's daily peak was recorded in the evening and was 1.9% lower than Wednesday's peak.

Due to the increased strain on the grid, consumers are urged to shift their use of energy-intensive appliances to daytime hours, specifically between 09:00 and 17:00. During this window, industrial solar power plants operate at peak efficiency, helping the system manage the load more effectively. Energy operators ask the public to practice mindful electricity consumption and note that the situation in the power grid remains fluid.

Concurrently, repair teams continue to mitigate the consequences of Russian strikes. The enemy persists in targeting Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure. Due to recent shelling, new power outages were reported this morning in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions.

Emergency restoration works commence immediately wherever security conditions permit. Specialists are making every effort to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.
