Russian gas supplies to the EU via Ukraine are stable – Reuters

Russian gas exports to Europe via Ukraine were stable on Wednesday, October 20, according to the data from Kremlin-controlled Gazprom, with flows to Austria from Slovakia remaining unchanged. This was reported by Reuters.

On Saturday, October 16, Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Austria's OMV due to a contractual dispute, the Vienna-based company said, while Gazprom did not comment on the issue.

It is unclear where the gas volumes intended for OMV were redirected.

The Slovak state-owned SPP said it continues to receive gas from Russia and suggested that others are buying more as there is still "great interest" in Europe for Russian gas.

Gazprom says it will send 42.4 million cubic metres of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Wednesday, the same amount as on Tuesday.

Requests for gas supplies to Austria from Slovakia were stable compared to Tuesday's level, about 13% below the level seen before Russia cut off gas supplies to OMV. Slovakia's bids for deliveries to the Czech Republic were in line with this month's levels.

Background. The Russian gas giant Gazprom said that on Tuesday it would send 42.4 million cubic metres of gas to Europe via Ukraine – Austria is still receiving Russian gas.
