P. Szijjarto noted that the parties intend to build an oil pipeline that will connect the Százhalombatta refinery owned by the Hungarian company MOL to the Serbian oil pipeline network.
The Council was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Cooperation in the energy sector was one of the main issues discussed at the summit, TASS reports.
Százhalombatta refinery
The MOL refinery in Százhalombatta is Hungary's largest oil refinery that uses mainly Russian raw materials supplied to the country via the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline.
Oil pipeline project
Earlier, P. Szijjártó said that the 128 km pipeline is planned to be laid from Hungary's southern border to the Serbian city of Novi Sad. The pipeline will have a capacity of at least 5 million tonnes per year, which will be important for both countries given the rising cost of transit of raw materials through Ukraine and Croatia.
