18.06.2026 17:46

The total capacity of all commissioned distributed gas generation facilities in Ukraine has reached 1,806.3 MW. Regions are actively expanding their generating capacities as part of preparations for the upcoming heating season, aiming to secure the needs of critical infrastructure and industry while strengthening the energy independence of local communities.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

Regional Leaders in Implementation

According to the Ministry, the leading regions by total volume of commissioned capacity are:

  • Kyiv Oblast — 212.3 MW;

  • Cherkasy Oblast — 124.6 MW.

Construction dynamics show rapid progress: over the last 3.5 months alone, regions have commissioned 338.7 MW of new capacity. The highest figures for this period were recorded in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr oblasts, as well as in the city of Kyiv.

Outlook Until the End of the Year

Currently, construction work is underway to install another 249 units with a total capacity of 522.8 MW. The completion of works at most of these facilities is expected between September and November of this year.

Support Measures from the Ministry of Energy:

To stimulate the development of distributed generation, the Ministry is introducing a series of regulatory updates. Specifically, direct PPA contracts, additional incentives for businesses and consumers, and simplified procedures for deploying new installations are being implemented. Furthermore, the approach to setting price caps on the electricity market has been revised, and gas distribution fees have been waived in cases of combat-related network damage.
