Italy has decided to invest EUR 200 million to restore Ukraine's power grids, which have been severely damaged by Russia's attacks.
This was stated by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, during the plenary session of the Italy-Ukraine Business Forum "Italy Supports Made in Ukraine" organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy at the Farnesina, Ukrinform reports.
A. Tajani emphasised that the Italian Government will help Ukraine right now, during the war, and will not allow "General Winter" to become an ally of Russia. That's why it was decided to invest €200 million to restore the power grids destroyed by Russian attacks.
He also expressed hope that Italian companies would actively engage in the process of rebuilding Ukraine, and that Ukrainian companies would be able to find opportunities for cooperation with Italy.
A. Tajani emphasised that the Business Forum goes beyond the issues of infrastructure restoration. According to him, Ukraine, as an EU candidate country, will become part of the common European market, and both sides should work now to expand economic cooperation.
"The Italian economic system is ready to provide assistance for Ukraine’s recovery in the context of the EU accession process and to forge new industrial partnerships that will benefit from the country’s participation in the European single market, " the Minister added and pointed out that the presence of 200 Italian and 50 Ukrainian companies at the Forum testifies to the strong interest of the two countries in collaborating in this area.

The Forum attended by economic operators from the main Italian and Ukrainian financial institutions and trade associations, is a preparatory event for the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be held in Rome on 10 and 11 July 2025. It will consist of a series of B2B and B2G meetings and thematic tables on sectors identified as priorities for the reconstruction of Ukraine – metallurgy and critical raw materials, energy transition and renewable energy, defence industry, agro-industry and machinery.
