The transmission system operators of Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine have developed a scheme for natural gas supplies from Greece to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan corridor. Specifically, Bulgaria's Bulgartransgaz EAD, Greece's DESFA SA, Romania's Transgaz SA, and Moldova's VestMoldTransgaz SRL, together with the Ukrainian GTSOU, jointly offered a route bundled product, initially agreeing on a single gas transit tariff with a 25% discount to increase the route's attractiveness. For the Ukrainian operator, the discount is 46%.
Since May of this year, the operators of the participating countries have been holding a single auction to allocate capacity at all points of the Trans-Balkan corridor along the natural gas transportation route from Greece to Ukraine.
Tenders for the sale of capacity for the next calendar month are held on the fourth Monday of each month. A uniform-price auction mechanism is implemented for capacity allocation.
Since July 2025, approximately 32 million cubic meters of gas have been delivered to Ukraine via Route 1.
