According to him, Azerbaijan has sufficient gas reserves. "If a few years ago our gas reserves were estimated at 2.6 bcm, today, thanks to new discoveries and future projects, there will be more reserves," he said.
I. Aliyev emphasised that in 2025, Azerbaijan hopes to get the first gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field (ACG), the so-called "Deep Gas" project, which will make a significant contribution to the country's overall gas production. "We are planning to work with the partners in order to increase gas production from the Absheron field from 1.5 to 5 bcm, understanding that the main supply of gas will still be Shah Deniz," the President specified.
According to him, there are other promising projects in Azerbaijan, such as Karabakh, Babek, Asiman, and others, and the implementation of these projects will increase Azerbaijan's potential.
I. Aliyev added that Azerbaijan is ready to increase gas supplies to Europe, but this requires additional investments to expand existing interconnectors or possibly build new ones.
He believes that the issue of the supply schedule also needs to be resolved, as the share of fossil fuels in the EU will decrease with the transition to green energy.
