This was emphasised by Ihor Tynnyi, co-founder of the Ukrainian Association of Renewable Energy (UARE), businessman and investor in renewable energy, in a commentary for ExPro Electricity.
According to I. Tynnyi, the current price caps do not allow for the development of the domestic electricity market.
In his perception, there are two most critical problems in the electricity market in Ukraine: debts and price caps.
Under current conditions in Ukraine, there are no incentives to build small-scale generation, I. Tynnyi points out. "This is also due to the fears of the authorities and the unprofessional position of some of their representatives," he adds.
According to the co-founder of the UARE, the key need for Ukraine is to provide commercial, "civilised" imports, not emergency aid.
In his view, today state regulation in the energy sector should be focused exclusively on building new shunting generation, supporting market development, and free international trade.
