"Modern power plants, whose capacity can be manoeuvred, are needed primarily to ensure the safety of production. They don't have to be the main suppliers of electricity all the time, but in cases like cable breakage, this is a serious guarantee of safety," he said.
The Lithuanian Government's programme includes discussions with the rest of the Baltic states to hold a joint tender for the construction of power plants capable of generating electricity in windless and cloudy weather.
