The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 1.5 billion to keep the Chornobyl NPP shelter safe, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.

"Today, the Government is allocating more than UAH 1.5 billion to keep the Chornobyl NPP shelter safe," D. Shmyhal said at a government session on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister noted that compared to 2024, the funding will increase by UAH 139 million.
He also said that after the Russian drone attack on the Chornobyl NPP shelter, there is no radiation threat and that work is underway to eliminate the consequences.
As reported, a Russian drone strike on the morning of February 14 on the New Safe Confinement "Shelter" over Chornobyl NPP Unit 4 and the resulting fire damaged the integrity of the NSC's outer cladding and equipment in the crane maintenance garage.
On February 15, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said that the radiation level at the facility had not changed despite significant damage, which was confirmed by the IAEA team's measurements.
