The Ministry of Energy has changed the rules for power outage schedules

The corresponding order of the Ministry of Energy of November 27, 2024, No. 439 came into force on December 3, 2024, Ukrinform reports, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the Instructions, hourly power outage schedules (HPOS) are drawn up twice a year based on the results of the summer and winter mode day of measurements of each DSO (distribution system operator).
The schedules shall cover at least 75% of the maximum electricity consumption from 8:00 to 22:00 on a weekday. They are divided into 6 equal shifts (each shift additionally consists of 2 equal sub-shifts), each of which must be maintained in the amount of at least 12.5% of the total consumption.
The compiled schedules are divided into 6 blocks of equal load for each day of the week to prevent load fluctuations during the simultaneous switching from one shift (or sub-shift) to another.
In the event of a disruption of the operation of the Integrated Power System of Ukraine due to a shortage of electric power and/or violation of the maximum power flows, or an unacceptable overload of equipment, all distributed generation that can be used as part of the IPS of Ukraine should be included in operation.
Also, schedules for limiting and emergency disconnection of consumers are applied, as well as emergency systems for reducing electricity consumption.
The Ministry expects that the updated mechanism for regulating hourly outage schedules will be more flexible and controlled. Besides, the division into equal shifts and sub-shifts will allow fewer consumers to be disconnected.
