Since the beginning of the year, the Naftogaz Group has purchased more than 800 million cubic metres of natural gas offered by private producers in the domestic market.
This was announced by Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, during a meeting with representatives of Ukrainian production companies on October 17, 2024 in Kyiv.
According to him, the increase in gas production will help preserve Ukraine's energy independence and contribute to its economic recovery.
The Head of the Naftogaz Group also expressed his gratitude to private companies for their contribution to the preparation for the difficult heating season.
As Ukrainian Energy reported earlier, in 9 months of 2024, the companies of the Naftogaz Group, Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC and Ukrnafta PJSC, produced more than 11 billion cubic metres of gas. This is 0.7 bcm more than in the same period last year.
As of October 1, natural gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities (UGS) exceeded 12.4 billion cubic metres. During the last heating season of 2023/2024. Ukraine used up to 6.8 bcm of gas from UGS facilities, despite additional needs related to electricity generation.
