The funds were transferred to the company at the end of last week. The amount of the payment has not yet been specified, but according to the publication's calculations, Gazprom had to pay about $70 million for the December transit.
In fact, this is the last direct payment to Naftogaz for transit services.
As a reminder, the buyer country, Hungary, has been paying for oil transit through Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline since 2022.
Ukraine is categorically not going to extend the contract, and the proposed alternative option of storing gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities did not interest other stakeholders.
Countries that were the main buyers of Russian gas via the land route have already made it clear that they can do without it.
In its internal plan for 2025, Russia's Gazprom envisages that gas will no longer flow to Europe via Ukraine after December 31, Reuters reports.
