The NEURC intends to allow Ukrtransgaz to include in the tariff the costs of creating an emergency stock of equipment for underground storage facilities

To this end, the Regulator approved the draft resolution "On Amendments to the Methodology for Determining and Calculating Tariffs for Natural Gas Storage (Injection, Withdrawal) Services for Gas Storage Facilities Subject to Regulated Access". The decision was made at its meeting on January 28, which was broadcast online.
"The planned material costs may include expenses related to the formation of an emergency stock of material and technical resources necessary for the prompt restoration of the operationally fit state of UGS facilities, including the elimination of possible emergencies and emergencies as a result of the Russian military aggression," the Commission's justification for the document reads.
The draft resolution also envisages improving the mechanism for calculating tariffs for natural gas injection and withdrawal services, as well as improving the approach to the distribution of costs associated with the provision of natural gas storage (injection, withdrawal) services in UGS facilities.
The draft document will be published on the NEURC's official website for comments and suggestions.
The system of main gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine is operated by Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine.
