"This assistance is very important for the stability of the energy system. I thank Norway and the EBRD for their continued support and commitment to helping our country," Roman Chumak, CEO of Naftogaz Group, said.
It is noted that the funding is part of a broader aid package aimed at supporting Ukraine's energy security. In total, Norway is allocating about 380 million euros for gas purchases, power grid restoration, emergency generators, and nuclear safety initiatives.
"In addition to weapons and ammunition, what Ukraine needs most urgently is energy support. In Kyiv, people often have no access to electricity for many hours a day, which has a significant impact on their daily lives. Energy support, including funding for the purchase of gas, is, therefore, an important component of Norway's assistance," Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, said.
