Gas supply to consumers in Transdniestria was cut off at 12:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
Earlier in the morning, TirasTeploEnergo reported that the heat and hot water supply to residential buildings in Transdniestria was cut off at 7:00 am due to a gas supply interruption. The only exceptions were hospitals and social institutions.
TiraspolTransgaz-Pridnestrovie clarified that gas will remain available in apartment buildings only for cooking. This will be possible due to the reserves in the gas pipeline system until the pressure in the network drops to a critical level. Local residents were urged to turn off gas taps and not to try to restore gas supply on their own.
On January 1, Gazprom announced that the supply of Russian gas for transit to Europe through Ukraine had stopped after the expiration of the transit contract with Kyiv.
