Poland launches one of the largest offshore wind energy projects

The project is estimated at PLN 30 billion (USD 7.4 billion) and is a key part of Poland's energy strategy.
"By 2040, we plan to produce 18 gigawatts of wind energy, which is equivalent to four nuclear power plants," the Polish government said.
About the Baltica 2 project
Baltica 2 will be located in the Baltic Sea, with the nearest turbine 40 km from the coast. The wind farm will consist of 107 turbines, each with a capacity of 14 MW, covering an area of about 190 km².
Who is funding?
The project financing includes PLN 15 billion (USD 3.7 billion) from PGE and PLN 6 billion (USD 1.5 billion) from the National Recovery Plan.
The wind farm is planned to be commissioned by 2027, and within three years, offshore wind energy is expected to cover 20% of Poland's electricity consumption. The Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm will use the Gdansk Port for the storage, pre-assembly, and offshore installation of wind turbine components. The project will comprise 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW-222 turbines, which will be installed by Cadeler and Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
