Parliament withdraws from consideration the draft law on the construction of KhNPP-3,4

"It (the draft law – ed.) has been withdrawn. No votes," he wrote, clarifying that the draft law was the first on the agenda of today’s meeting to be adopted as a basis.
On Monday, December 16, Katarína Mathernová, EU Ambassador to Ukraine, emphasised in a comment to European Pravda that EU entities had no involvement in the drafting of this legislation. "We were not involved in the preparation of this bill. However, whether or not Ukraine builds a nuclear power plant is totally up to the Ukrainian authorities," she stated. It should be noted that the Government is planning to use donor funding to build the additional units at the KhNPP. K. Mathernová stressed that the EU will not take part in this. "The European Union does not finance the development of nuclear power plants, including due to different opinions on nuclear power among Member States of the EU," she clarified.
As reported by Energoreforma, the draft law on the construction of KhNPP-3 and KhNPP-4 was registered by the Government under No. 11146 in April 2024.
On June 17, the Verkhovna Rada's Energy Committee supported it for adoption as a basis.
In July 2023, the Bulgarian Parliament delegated the country's Energy Minister to hold negotiations with the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Energy on the possibility of selling equipment intended for the Belene NPP to Kyiv. Bulgaria abandoned the project in 2012. Without the law on the construction of the KhNPP, such a deal cannot be concluded.
