The Russian Ministry of Defence said that the strike was aimed at the Russkaya compressor station in the Krasnodar Territory in southern Russia, but that it did not seem to damage the facility. It is currently impossible to confirm Russia's claims.
The report also states that the debris caused minor damage to the building and equipment of the gas metering station.
European natural gas prices rose by more than 5% – to EUR 47.4/MWh, the highest level since January 7, amid news of attacks on the Turkish Stream. As a reminder, since the beginning of 2025, natural gas prices have been on a downward trend in Europe.
The Turkish Stream remains the last pipeline route for Russian natural gas supplies to Europe. One of the branches of the Turkish Stream pipeline supplies about 15 billion cubic metres of natural gas to Turkey. The other branch supplies gas to European countries, including Serbia, Hungary, and, starting in December 2024, Slovakia.
