In December, the US exported 8.5 million tonnes of LNG, which is only 0.1 million tonnes less than the historical record of monthly exports set in December 2023.
Europe accounted for 55% of total US LNG exports last year, 34% went to Asia, and the remaining 11% – mainly to Latin America. Several shipments were also sent to the Middle East, mainly to Egypt and Jordan.
In 2025, the US is expected to continue to increase exports due to the launch of two new plants in Texas and Louisiana. The new facilities will increase LNG production by 30 million tonnes per year.
