"Electricity consumption restricting measures will not be applied to companies that import more than 60% of their consumption or independently produce more than 60% of their consumption," the Ministry of Energy said on Telegram following a Government session on Tuesday.
It is noted that the Cabinet of Ministers introduced amendments to the Regulation on Peculiarities of Electricity Imports under the Legal Regime of Martial Law in Ukraine at the suggestion of the Ministry of Energy and taking into account the requests of electricity market participants "to create preconditions for increasing electricity imports and ensuring the stability of the power system in the face of electricity shortages."
"The Government's decision was made taking into consideration the increase in the capacity limits for electricity imports to Ukraine from European countries to 2.1 GW. This will create additional incentives for attracting a larger volume of commercial electricity imports, enable us to develop domestic generation and ensure greater resilience of the power system in the face of electricity shortages," the Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko commented.
According to the statement of the Government's representative in Parliament Taras Melnychuk on Telegram, the amendments to the Regulation on the specifics of electricity imports provide for the non-application of energy consumption restricting measures (electricity consumption limitation schedules, hourly power outages, power consumption restrictions, emergency power outages) to non-household consumers whose volume of imported electricity at each billing hour is at least 60% of the total volume of electricity consumption or at least 60% of this consumption is provided by consumers’ electricity generation.
