On his Facebook page, the former Head of the GTSOU, Serhiy Makohon, suggested that Gazprom Export sells OMV volumes on the spot market in Slovakia or Austria.
He also did not rule out that "other companies that won arbitrations against Gazprom may start arresting this free gas".
The former Head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andriy Kobolev, also believes that continuing to transit the same volumes through Ukraine means "a banal scheme to replace the counterparty, i.e., gas will be resold to Austria through some intermediary (for example, from Slovakia)."
As reported, the Austrian company OMV Gas Marketing & Trading GmbH received a decision in the Stockholm arbitration awarding it EUR 230 million for the shortage of gas supplies by Gazprom Export. OMV decided to offset this amount against its obligations to pay for Gazprom's supplies to Austria. As a result, OMV said, Gazprom Export notified it of the termination of supplies from 7:00 a.m. Kyiv time on Saturday.
