Imports of diesel fuel from Poland increased by 27.9% in October 2024 compared to September. This is the largest increase in imports in absolute terms among all destinations, achieved exclusively by rail.
The share of imports across the Polish-Ukrainian border amounted to 35.8% (+2.6 pp. compared to September) of total diesel fuel supplies in October, the highest figure in the last five months. The total value of imports from this direction is estimated at $171.44 mln before customs clearance, compared to $134.39 mln a month earlier.
Imports of diesel fuel across the border with Slovakia and Hungary
In October, imports from Hungary increased by more than one and a half times compared to the previous month. Besides, for the first time since February this year, Petra West imported a batch of natural gas from Slovenia by tank car. In total, supplies across the Hungarian-Ukrainian border accounted for 9.9% (+3.3 percentage points compared to September) of total diesel fuel supplies in September. This is the highest figure for the last three months. The total value of imports from this direction amounted to $43.43 million, up from $25 million in the previous month.
Imports from Slovakia more than doubled in October, the highest percentage growth among all destinations. The increase in supplies was driven by rail and road connections. The share of imports across the Slovak-Ukrainian border amounted to 1.1% (+0.5pp) of total diesel fuel supplies in October. The total value of imports from this direction amounted to $5.21 mn, compared to $2.59 mn a month before.
