"669.4 million dollars – this is the record amount the cost of imported electricity reached last year. In 2024, it cost Ukraine USD 2.0 million more than the total cost of the previous five years," the statement said.
It is noted that the reason for this is the record increase in electricity imports and the change in its price compared to 2023.
At the same time, electricity exports brought in $81 million last year, 8 times less than the amount spent on imports. "In 2023-2024, we had a negative balance in foreign trade in electricity. This is due to the war that the terrorist state is waging against Ukraine, destroying our energy infrastructure," the DiXi Group emphasised.
As reported, in 2024, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 5.5 times – to 4.437 million MWh compared to 2023. Exports decreased by 5% – to 348.5 thousand MWh.
