"Now these two companies have already pumped 1 million cubic metres of biomethane into Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities. That is, we can state that 2024 provided the first million cubic metres of biomethane to the grid and UGS facilities," G. Geletukha said.
According to him, there are no exports of biomethane yet, as potential European buyers want larger volumes, so "companies accumulate volumes in UGS facilities, and as soon as a certain level is reached, they will export it."
According to ExPro estimates, Vitagro has accumulated almost 0.8 million cubic metres of natural gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities, and Gals Agro has accumulated more than 0.2 million cubic metres.
As ExPro previously reported, in November, Gals Agro became the second company to supply biomethane to the Ukrainian GTS.
