Ukrenergo calls on businesses to connect their backup generating units to the power system

"As of today, the member companies of the Federation of Employers alone have more than 150 such generation units (with the capacity of 1 MW and more)," the system operator said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday after a meeting between the NPC's executives and representatives of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.
According to Oleksiy Brekht, Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, over the past year, many companies imported and connected generating units of various capacities to their internal networks in preparation for winter.
"Fortunately, we manage to get through the cold period without long shutdowns. And the gas turbine and gas piston units imported by businesses and industry are just idle. At the same time, the owners do not get any profit, and the Ukrainian power system does not use the quite significant capacity of this generation," he clarified.
According to O. Brekht, the government has now crucially simplified the procedure for connecting to the grid and Ukrenergo is ready to provide businesses with advice on various options for working in the electricity market.
"Everything is for the sake of ensuring that the joint work has a positive result for all parties," the CEO emphasised.
In addition, the representatives of the NPC and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine discussed cooperation with representatives of about three dozen industrial enterprises on the procurement of equipment and materials.
"We discussed opportunities to increase the share of Ukrainian goods in the list of everything our company purchases. Businesses submitted their proposals, and Ukrenergo representatives reported what domestic products are currently lacking in the energy sector because they are not produced in Ukraine," the NPC said.
As reported, on Tuesday, Ukrenergo imposed power restrictions on industrial consumers and businesses due to damage to power facilities as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks.
