The debt of the NPC Ukrenergo in the balancing market (BM) is currently over UAH 16 billion, and the debts of companies participating in this market to the NPC exceed UAH 34 billion, said Oleksiy Brekht, acting Chairman of the company's Board.

O. Brekht noted that the company intends to pay off some of its debts with the proceeds from the sale of interstate crossing capacity for import and export operations with electricity.

The second source of debt repayment is the proportional allocation of funds from dispatching savings to the BR and Guaranteed Buyer (as part of special obligations to pay for green electricity) in 2023 and 2024.

He also added that the company expects the NNEGC Energoatom to pay off its debts to universal service providers this year (according to GarPok, about UAH 10 billion as of the end of September – EP), which, in turn, will redistribute the corresponding funds to pay off their debts to Ukrenergo and distribution system operators (DSOs).

As reported, Law 3915-IX of August 21, 2024, on the terminology of smart grids provides for the 50/50 allocation of funds from the sale of the crossing to the Guaranteed Buyer and to the BM.
