"One of the most effective stimulation methods is hydraulic fracturing. After its application, the permeability of the formations increases, and well productivity grows," the company said in a press release on Wednesday.
Some of the operations are carried out by attracted partners. In particular, out of 35 planned hydraulic fracturing operations, an external contractor has performed 33 fracturing operations in eastern and western Ukraine. More than 20 wells are already in operation.
"More than 90% of the facilities have achieved their design targets for additional production, and the success rate is 92%. Overall, the total flow rate increased 4.2 times, from 71.8 to 303.7 tonnes per day. This resulted in additional production of over 12.7 tonnes of oil and over 6.4 million cubic metres of gas," Serhiy Koretskyi, CEO of Ukrnafta, said.
According to the company, given the successful and positive results, the programme will continue: in the first half of 2025, an external contractor has planned 30 additional hydraulic fracturing operations.
Ukrnafta is the largest oil company in Ukraine and the operator of the national network of filling stations. In March 2024, the company took over the management of Glusco's assets and operates 547 filling stations – 462 of its own and 85 under management.
The company is implementing a comprehensive programme to restore operations and update the format of its filling stations. Since February 2023, the company has been issuing its own fuel coupons and NAFTACard cards, which are sold to legal entities and individuals through Ukrnafta-Postach LLC.
Ukrnafta holds 92 special permits for commercial development of fields. The company has 1,832 oil and 154 gas production wells.
Ukrnafta's largest shareholder is Naftogaz of Ukraine with a 50%+1 share.
In November 2022, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces decided to transfer to the state a share of the corporate rights of the company owned by private owners, which is now managed by the Ministry of Defence.
Ukrnafta has additionally produced 13 thousand tonnes of oil and more than 6 million cubic metres of gas using hydraulic fracturing
