Untreated Wood Market Review: UEB Results for May 4–8, 2026

Last week, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEB) demonstrated steady activity in the untreated wood sector. Auctions were conducted by forestry enterprises from six regions of Ukraine, with the Ivano-Frankivsk region emerging as the leader in sales volume.

Key Market Performance:

  • Offered Volume: 37.86 thousand cubic meters.

  • Sold Volume: 13.09 thousand cubic meters.

  • Total Sales Value: UAH 52.49 million (including VAT).

  • Additional Income: Forestry enterprises generated an extra UAH 890.41 thousand (including VAT) through English auctions.

In the overall sales structure, firewood accounted for 54%, while round timber made up 46%.

Round Timber

During the reporting period, 5.98 thousand cubic meters of round timber were sold for a total of UAH 34.05 million (including VAT). The most popular species were:

  • Pine: 58.82% of the total sales share.

  • Oak: 12.49%.

  • Beech: 5.25%.

Other species sold included red oak, alder, fir, spruce, elm, birch, ash, linden, hornbeam, sycamore, maple, aspen, and poplar.

Firewood

Sales of firewood reached 7.11 thousand cubic meters, totaling UAH 18.44 million (including VAT). Notably, over 99% of the firewood was purchased for industrial use. The highest demand was seen for:

  • Spruce: 17.08%.

  • Birch: 14.66%.

  • Aspen: 13.28%.

Price Indices

The market showed mixed price dynamics last week. The most significant price decrease was recorded for alder, with its current price at UAH 4,519.68 per cubic meter (including VAT). Conversely, beech became the growth leader, with its price reaching UAH 5,998.35 per cubic meter (including VAT).
