DTEK Grids presented its strategic plan for modernising power grids at the Rebuild Ukraine Construction & Energy conference held last week in Warsaw. It is noted that modern power grids will be a key factor in the post-war renewal of Ukraine ensuring ener-gy security throughout Europe. As part of the project, Kyiv, as well as the Kyiv, Odesa, and Dniprope-trovsk regions will receive such a technological energy infrastructure. This will improve the reliability of the energy supply, reduce electricity losses, increase grid capacity and connect new renewable energy facili-ties to the grid. In particular, at the company's exhibition stand, the participants of the conference in Warsaw could learn about the results of the project of a "digital twin" of the 110-35 kV network in the Kyiv region. As reported, in November 2023, the Board of Directors of the European Distribution System Operators Association E.DSO officially approved the concept of power grid development worked out by DTEK Grids together with its European colleagues as a comprehensive project aimed at creating the Ukrainian power grids of the future. The concept envisages the gradual upgrade of the distribution network infrastructure in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions using the latest technologies based on the best practices of European distribution system operators (DSOs). The project will last for 10 years. In October 2023, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids announced the implementation of a pilot project of a digital twin grid at the Irpin power hub. DTEK Grids develops the electricity distribution and power grid operation business in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Odesa regions. The company's DSOs serve 5.5 million households and 158,000 enterprises.
